Abstract:
The tree ring record is a high resolution archive for dating and paleoclimatic reconstructions for the Holocene and beyond. As new analytical methods are developed tree ring researchers are deriving increasing amounts of new information from tree rings, thus there is currently much potential for exciting new discoveries in this field. Here we present a brief overview of the new work currently underway at CHESS, the problems to overcome and the potential of SXFM for the analysis of tree rings as indicated by our preliminary data.
