Abstract:
In 2000 Neutze et al. argued it might be possible to image single biomolecules with femtosecond x-ray pulses, such as produced by free-electron lasers. I will review some current experimental projects designed to develop methods for achieving this goal. And while the computational challenges posed by these experiments are also daunting, I will argue they are not quite as severe as previously thought.
