CHESS proudly announces a 2-day, hands-on workshop on data collection and analysis with the Maia detector, a 384-pixel, energy-dispersive detector designed specifically for fast x-ray fluorescence microscopy.

Day 1 will introduce users to Maia data analysis with GeoPIXE, including Dynamic Analysis.

Day 2 will provide participants with an opportunity to take data on their own samples at the F3 beamline at CHESS.

Fee: $100. Fee covers workshop participation, remote and local access to CHESS computing resources, and coffee and lunch on 10/14.

Lodging: Please note that you are responsible for your own travel and lodging, however, Best Western's 607-272-6100 discounted rate of $95 is available for only the nights of 10/13, 10/14 & 10/15 when you ask for the special "CHESS XRF Mapping" rate.

•  Basic principles of x-ray fluorescence
•  Data acquisition with Maia
•  Basic spectral analysis of Maia data using GeoPIXE
•  Image validation
•  Exporting data & images for visualization, presentation, and publication
•  XANES mapping


SPECIAL NOTE: Workshop participants are invited to submit proposals for additional beamtime with the Maia detector during the week following the workshop, from October 16th-21st. These proposals will be reviewed internally, in conjunction with the workshop application. Submit proposals by Friday, September 19.
